Spa Day - Terme di Pré-Saint-Didier

I've never been a big fan when it comes to paying good money to visit health spas, especially after five years of working for various hotels, resorts and a luxury cruise line with free use of the health suites and spas included in the employee contracts. But this was something else and an experience not to be missed after the good feedback received and recommended highly by various people. An early start to the day was a must, taking a coach from just outside the Chamonix main train station passing through the Mont Blanc Tunnel which is a communication link between France and Italy and under the Mont Blanc mountain itself until the Italian town of Courmayeur is reached. Majority of the people on the coach were all geared up and off skiing for the day, not me, I was heading in the spa direction for some much needed relaxation time. Once arrived at Terme di Pré-Saint-Didier (after jumping on a second bus over to Pré-Saint-Didier and asking for directions) I was welcomed by the receptionist and a full day entry fee was paid of 44 euros, for the entry fee you get access to the entire spa, a bathrobe, towels, flip flops and get to snack from a buffet of fruit, yogurts, bread sticks, cereals and so on. Yes it was oh so healthy but made a nice change and I felt good for it, not that I eat unhealthily but you know what I mean.

WOW. AMAZZIN' you name it, it had it. From open air thermal swimming pools surrounded by mountains to hydro massage and waterfalls, saunas, Turkish baths and very interesting under water relaxation music. The thermal waters come from the heart of the mountain at a temperature of around 37°C.

Worthwhile and money well spent.
