For the first time together in a single image, around the first Bureau des Guides reconstituted from their balconies and painted in trompe l'oeil, 20 pioneers of mountaineering, the most famous, found the view of Mont Blanc.
Two local men Paccard and Balmat made the first ever ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786.
To the right is a picture of the Horace-Benedict de Saussure monument in the town of Chamonix. Beside him is Jacques Balmat and they both point towards the summit of Mont Blanc.

Thanks to Courmayeur, Chamonix's twin town in Italy, Chamonix installed a ten metre high prehistoric reptile in resin, that was previously part of an exhibition in Courmayeur called "In the footsteps of dinosaurs".
Colourfully painted horse-drawn carriages gather in the town square at dusk for après-ski rides.
