Domaine des Houches has two main cable cars, one leaves from the centre of town and climbs to Bellevue - 1800m which is perfect for me as this is right on my doorstep and the other from Les Chavants to La Prarion - 1900m. I like to take the Bellevue cable car up then ski across to Prarion, it is an enjoyable run and saves carrying everything for 10 minutes or so up to Les Chavants.
Domaine des Houches offers 360 degree views of the Mont Blanc, good restaurants and lots of room for everyone from skiers to boarders, telemarkers to cross-country skiers, hikers to gliders and so on.
Domaine des Houches is more sheltered than the other ski areas, with good fun runs through the trees and is a good place for beginners and intermediates.
It really is an experience being able to ski to different areas of the domain and being able to see such beauty along with the casual stop at various restaurants and having now confidently mastering the blue runs I think its time to move onwards and upwards or shall I say 'downwards'...
